12:05 PM   Mississippi State vs LSU
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: LSU -14.5
I'm laying the points with LSU Tigers at home in one of the toughest environments in college football. LSU is a heavy favorite across the market and multiple projection models give the Tigers an 83%+ chance to win, with projected scores landing around 36-21.

The matchup edge starts in the trenches. LSU is averaging 214 rushing yards per game, while Mississippi State Bulldogs have struggled to keep opponents behind schedule defensively.

Health is also a concern for Mississippi State. Questions surrounding key offensive contributors, including quarterback Kamario Taylor, could make it difficult for the Bulldogs to keep pace in a hostile road setting.

LSU's home form has been dominant, with convincing wins over quality opponents in Tiger Stadium, while both of their losses came away from Baton Rouge.

7:35 PM   Oklahoma State vs Houston
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Oklahoma State 4.5
Oklahoma State is a strong pick to cover +4.5 against Houston because the Cowboys have the offensive firepower to keep this Big 12 matchup competitive. Oklahoma State ranks sixth nationally in total offense, averaging 521.4 yards per game, including 322.4 passing yards. That passing attack could exploit a Houston defense allowing 248.3 passing yards per game, ranking 118th nationally. The Cowboys also enter on a four-game winning streak, building confidence and momentum heading into this road test.
Oklahoma State won 43-30 at Houston in 2023 and has captured six of the teams’ last ten meetings. Although Houston dominated their 2025 matchup, the Cowboys’ current offensive production gives them a realistic chance to respond.
Houston’s fourth-ranked rushing defense is a concern, but Oklahoma State’s passing advantage should help offset that weakness. With explosive-play potential and enough scoring ability to stay within one possession, Oklahoma State +4.5 is the value side.

7:44 PM   Notre Dame vs BYU
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Notre Dame -10.5
For my best free pick on the board here for Saturday in College Football action I am looking at Notre Dame traveling to take on BYU here in prime time action. Normally I fade the Irish or at least just avoid them which is what I have done this season but here I think we have an opportunity with them as they face a team that is 5-0 both SU and ATS and getting double digits which should entice a majority of bettors on this game IMO and based on early action I think I am on point here. Irish were screwed last year not getting in the playoffs and I am sure this team has heard the nay sayers saying this team has played no one. I think BYU is a big public dog here and Notre Dame will have zero mercy here on Saturday.

Play on Notre Dame lay the points rotation #179

7:40 PM   Kentucky vs Oklahoma
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Kentucky 6.5
This could be a letdown spot for both teams. Kentucky is coming off a win over LSU, and Oklahoma took down Texas. Oklahoma is at home. Oklahoma has struggled offensively this season, and this seems to be too many points.  Kentucky has a balanced offense and a playmaking quarterback. Kentucky has played competitive games and this will be another one.

12:05 PM   Northwestern vs Michigan State
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Northwestern -7
Michigan State hasn't shown enough consistency to earn my trust in this matchup.
The Wildcats rank 20th nationally in the College Football Power Index, compared to 60th for the Spartans. Northwestern also holds a significant advantage in offensive efficiency, ranking 10th in the country, while Michigan State sits 86th. Northwestern ranks 43rd defensively, compared to 70th for Michigan State.
I trust Northwestern to control this matchup and create enough separation to cover the touchdown spread.

12:05 PM   Cincinnati vs West Virginia
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Over 63
I'm taking the Over up to 64.5 in Cincinnati vs. West Virginia. Both defenses rank near the bottom of the Big 12 in defensive efficiency, creating a favorable setup for points on Saturday. West Virginia has gone Over in all six games this season, while Cincinnati has hit the Over in three of its first five. The recent results are especially encouraging, with West Virginia allowing 52 points to Arizona, 45 to Iowa State and 41 to Oklahoma State. Cincinnati has also shown it can put points on the board, scoring at least 31 in four of its first five games. With West Virginia's fast-paced offense and both defenses struggling to consistently get stops, I like the chances of this game turning into a shootout.

Saturday NCAA Football Complimentary Selection from James Patrick Sports

Washington State vs. Oregon State 6:00 pm. est.
The Pac-12 is back – bloodied, trimmed to eight teams, yet bristling with modest talent and attitude. Former Pac-12ers Oregon State and Washington State welcome five Mountain West raiders (Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State) plus Sun Belt gunslinger Texas State. The Beavers didn’t really have expectations after elevating Bray from DC to HC as this was a move designed to keep as many players in-house as possible, since spending money wasn’t really in the cards for Oregon State. After a (2-10) disaster last season, JaMarcus Shephard takes the reins In Corvallis while making his head coaching debut. Rebuilding in a reborn league, that’s the ultimate gut-check. Oregon State needs positive energy to remain competitive in today's college football landscape. Washington State spent the last two years wandering college football’s wilderness while the Pac-12 crumbled around it. Now the Cougars have a conference, pulse, and reason to matter again. First-year head coach Kirby Moore inherits roster turnover and portal chaos, but also a program eager to punch back. Still, Moore’s background should keep the Cougars dangerous. Washington State could become the Pac-12’s troublemaker. Your Saturday NCAA Football Complimentary Selection from James Patrick Sports in NCAA action is a (3*) Play. #213. NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Auburn 21
Friday Night NCAA Football Complimentary Selection from James Patrick Sports

Auburn vs. Georgia 3:30 pm. est.
The Bulldogs are coming off a huge revenge game at Alabama and like Auburn’s chances here. HC Kirby Smart is a two-time national champion and Smart is (40-5) in SEC play since 2021. Though the Dawgs’ once-unparalleled talent depth has moderated – with revenue sharing and NIL leveling the landscape. The Dawgs slumped badly last season with three losses. The issues were sub-standard quarterback play, lack of play-making receivers (again) and the worst defense at Georgia in at least a decade. Georgia took a punch to the gut, losing (13) players to the NFL Draft, including three first-round defenders. To make matters more challenging, they entered spring with a QB room that has just one career start – Gunnar Stockton’s. The Auburn Tigers fired coach Hugh Freeze. He was gone (6-16) in the SEC over his three seasons and (15-19) overall. With pressure mounting and patience running thin, it’s boom-or-bust on The Plains – and the countdown had already started. On the heels of five straight (7)-loss seasons, this War Eagle program needed stability as much as anything, and new HC Alex Golesh seems more than capable of bringing it. With a proven track record of rapid turnaround, plus his ability to develop talent and build a winning culture, Golesh positions Auburn for sustained success moving forward – especially behind physically gifted and talented ex-USF QB Byrum Brown and a strong cast of former Bulls’ wide receivers. Your Friday College Football Complimentary Selection actually kicks off on Saturday at 3:30 pm. est. Take is #189. Take Auburn Tigers vs. Georgia. 11:00 PM   Nebraska vs Oregon
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Oregon -7
11 pm, as we take advantage of a team heading to the West Coast for the first time this season, playing an 11 pm game. (187) Nebraska (5-1) almost upset Indiana at home prior to this journey out west, but a closer look shows Indiana was definitely looking ahead to their home game against the 4th-ranked Ohio State, which a home loss for Indiana would hurt their standing in the Big10 and at the national level. So, host (188) Oregon (3-2), with the quarterback still TBD, is off a loss and laying points here. I can tell you why: the game is a night game in Eugene, Oregon. Nebraska hasn’t been on this big a stage on the road in a long time. Take (188) Oregon laying the points.

12:05 PM   Florida Atlantic vs Army
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Over 54.5
*Free Play Over 54.5* The Army Black Knights are much weaker defensively this year than they have been in recent seasons. Army is 126th in pass explosiveness allowed. They are 118th in yards per pass attempt allowed. They are 127th in pass downs success rate allowed. Army hasn't even played good passing attacks this season.
Florida Atlantic is a very pass heavy offense. The Owls are 10th nationally in pass play success rate on offense. I think they'll have success with a solid QB and athletic WR's on the outside. The Owls are also very fast paced. In fact, they are first in the nation in pace of play.
Army is a slow paced team, but I think they'll have a lot of success on the ground here. The Owls are 117th in PPA/rush allowed. Army is 2nd in PPA/rush on offense. Army is third nationally in rushing explosiveness and Florida Atlantic is 106th in rushing explosiveness allowed.
We are just below a very key totals number too.

12:05 PM   Virginia vs SMU
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: SMU -9.5
  Marc David's CFB Free Pick
We really like home favorite in this matchup. Virginia (4-2) is coming off a win over Syracuse, but they managed just 288 total yards in that one, and the Cavaliers have struggled badly when stepping up in class. They lost 38-27 to West Virginia and got blown out 38-7 at Florida State in their only true road test.
SMU (4-1) has the best player on the field in Kevin Jennings, who just became the program’s career passing leader and has thrown for 430 yards at Florida State and 464 against Missouri State this season.
Virginia hasn’t shown they can keep pace away from Charlottesville, and SMU’s passing attack should stress a Cavaliers defense that’s leaned on a lot of new faces.

7:35 PM   Oklahoma State vs Houston
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Houston -4.5
s is a play on the HOUSTON COUGARS for our Saturday Free Play. Oklahoma St. comes into Houston with a 4-1 record and after losing the season opener against Tulsa, the Cowboys have won and covered four straight games and that is a streak we like to fade as it is keeping this line down. One of the wins was a significant upset over Oregon but that was has lost some of its gusto and the other three wins were a pair of victories over average teams and one over an FCS squad. The offense was lights out over the first three games of this winning streak but was held in check somewhat last time out and now they face a defense ranked in the top 40 including No. 4 against the run. Houston is 5-1 with its only loss coming against Texas Tech because of a missed two-point conversion late that would have sent the game into overtime. The Cougars have one of the best rushing attacks in the country as they are No. 14 and that is the weakness of the Cowboys defense as they are No. 81 in the country. Here, we play against road underdogs of 3.5 to 10 points off a win by 10 points or more over a conference rival going up against an opponent off an upset win by 14 points or more as an underdog. This situation is 26-6 ATS (81.3 percent) since 1992. Play (152) Houston Cougars

12:05 PM   Kansas vs Kansas State
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Kansas 3.5
Kansas v Kansas State NCAAF Free Pick
The Angle(s): The Kansas State Wildcats have won 17 straight in the Sunflower Showdown, but the margins have tightened lately. Two of the last three meetings were one-possession games, and this year's K-State team hasn’t looked like a group ready to pull away. Both teams enter 0-2 in conference play, so there is no talent gap here that justifies the hype around the home team.
The Jayhawks opened as a significant underdog after last week's loss to unbeaten Utah, and the line has since come down, a sign that sharper money agrees the market overreacted. I’ll take the points in a rivalry game that should come down to the fourth quarter.
The Bet: Kansas ATS (3%).

7:30 PM   Wisconsin vs UCLA
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Under 43.5
Take #183 Wisconsin vs UCLA Under
UCLA and Wisconsin square off Saturday in a matchup that sets up well for the under, particularly with the Bruins potentially facing a significant offensive adjustment at quarterback. UCLA is coming off a gritty 17-15 road victory over Oregon, but starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava suffered a serious knee injury and is expected to miss the Wisconsin game. Backup Ty Dieffenbach would take over, and the change could lead to a more conservative offensive approach as the Bruins lean on their running game and defense.
Wisconsin brings a strong defense into Pasadena. The Badgers held Michigan State to just 127 rushing yards on 45 carries in a 31-3 victory, and they have been effective at limiting opponents on the ground. That could make life difficult for UCLA running back Wayne Knight, who has averaged 7.7 yards per carry and scored 10 rushing touchdowns this season. If Wisconsin can contain Knight and force UCLA's inexperienced quarterback to make plays through the air, scoring opportunities could be limited.
The Badgers also have reasons to expect a physical, competitive contest. Quarterback Colton Joseph has shown big-play potential, but his five interceptions against 10 touchdown passes suggest there is still room for inconsistency. UCLA's defense has recorded 10 interceptions this season, including four from Ta'Shawn James, giving the Bruins the ability to create turnovers and disrupt Wisconsin's offensive rhythm. Those defensive strengths could lead to shorter possessions and fewer sustained scoring drives.
UCLA's 5-0 start has been impressive, but the quarterback injury changes the outlook for this matchup. Without Iamaleava, the Bruins may rely more heavily on the ground game and their defense, while Wisconsin's ability to limit rushing production could force both teams into a more methodical style. With two capable defenses and uncertainty surrounding UCLA's offense, this game has the ingredients for a lower-scoring battle.

10:30 PM   Wake Forest vs California
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Wake Forest -9.5
Take #183 Wake Forest Over Cal
Wake Forest heads to Berkeley riding a three-game winning streak and arrives with plenty of confidence after back-to-back road victories over ranked Louisville and NC State. The No. 21 Demon Deacons dominated NC State 38-14 last week, improving to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in ACC play. Now nationally ranked for the first time since 2022, Wake Forest has an opportunity to keep building momentum against a California team dealing with several important injuries.
The biggest advantage for Wake Forest could be Cal's depleted backfield. Running back Adam Mohammed, the Bears' leading rusher with 336 yards, is in danger of missing his third consecutive game, while Carter Vargas has already been ruled out. If Mohammed is unavailable, Ashten Emory could be forced into an expanded role after showing promise last week. Losing depth at running back against a Wake Forest team that has been playing increasingly confident defense is a significant concern for California.
The Bears also have questions at quarterback. Backup Jackson Brousseau played well in last week's 25-20 victory over Virginia Tech, completing 29 of 43 passes for 321 yards and a touchdown without throwing an interception. However, facing Wake Forest presents a much tougher challenge. The Demon Deacons have not allowed a second-half point in their past two games, and their defense will look to disrupt Cal's offensive rhythm while forcing the inexperienced quarterback into difficult situations.
On the other side, Wake Forest quarterback Gio Lopez has been playing outstanding football. He accounted for four touchdowns against NC State and has produced nine total touchdowns over the past two games. His dual-threat ability makes him difficult to contain, especially when paired with a passing attack that just received a breakout performance from receiver Jack Foley, who recorded eight catches for 156 yards and a touchdown. Against a Cal team missing key contributors, Wake Forest has the offensive firepower to take control.
California deserves credit for its recent win and will look to carry that momentum into Saturday night. However, the injury concerns, particularly in the backfield and potentially on defense, create a difficult matchup against a surging Wake Forest squad. We expect the Demon Deacons to capitalize on those weaknesses, control the game, and continue their impressive run with another convincing road performance.

12:00 PM   Ohio State vs Indiana
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Indiana 3
Indiana +3 (-110) vs Ohio State
There’s no love for Indiana this week, and we’re happy to take advantage of that.
The Hoosiers are at home, where Curt Cignetti has never lost as their head coach (19-0, the longest active home streak in the country). They also carry a 22-game winning streak into this one. That kind of run doesn’t happen by accident.
Ohio State is the more talented team on paper, and they have the best player in the country in Jeremiah Smith. But Cignetti has a reputation for taking away the opponent’s best weapon. Smith will still get his, but I don’t expect the numbers he usually puts up. He torched this defense for 8 catches and 144 yards in the 2025 Big Ten title game, and Indiana still won.
This Hoosiers defense is great, especially against the run, and the offense is efficient. Ohio State is the better cover team, but I’m not fading Cignetti and 22 straight wins, especially at home. Both teams had this game circled from the start of the season, and Indiana will be ready.
Take Indiana +3 (-110).
Let’s cash some tickets!

3:45 PM   Penn State vs Michigan
NCAAF   10/17
  Pick: Penn State 6
I still believe the Nittany Lions are a better team than their 3-3 record suggests, and last week's 31-23 loss to USC included some encouraging signs. Quarterback Rocco Becht completed 21 of 32 passes for 289 yards without an interception, showing meaningful improvement after struggling against Wisconsin and Northwestern. Penn State is still averaging a respectable 393 yards per game, and Becht has enough experience to lead the offense against a strong defense in a tough environment. Penn State brings in the offensive edge based on the results we’ve seen from both of these teams this season.
The Wolverines have been extremely disappointing offensively, ranking 17th among the Big Ten's 18 teams in both scoring at 23 points per game and total offense at 315.8 yards. Bryce Underwood has completed only 59.3% of his passes with five touchdowns to four interceptions. Michigan has lost consecutive conference games while scoring just 19 and 14 points, and coach Kyle Whittingham has confirmed that Underwood will remain the starter. We’re simply not seeing the improvement we expected from Underwood in his second year as the starting QB and he’s not processing the game effectively in his new offensive system.
I don't trust Michigan's offense to consistently create separation against a respectable opponent. Expect a tight game with a low score. Take the pts with PSU.

Methods Of Wagering With NCAAF Picks

Betting the NCAAF Point Spread

Betting “against the spread” is the most popular way to wager on college FOOTBALL. NCAAF games are rarely perfect match-ups, and the spread is the sportsbook's way of leveling the playing field. In order to win a point spread bet or “cover the spread,” the favored team not only has to win the game – they must do so by a specified number of points (the spread). The spread encourages equal betting on both teams, as it essentially “gives” points to the underdog. You most often find spreads with half-points attached, which is known as a “hook.” The hook avoids the possibility of a push (or tie).
      Example: Stanford +5.5, Georgia -5.5
The team with the negative number next to its name is the favorite; in this case, it is Georgia (-5.5). If you bet on the Bulldogs against the spread, they have to win the game by at least six points for you to win your bet. Georgia is said to be “laying” 5.5 points in these circumstances. Another way to look at it is subtracting 5.5 points from the Bulldogs final score at the end of the game. If the Bulldogs still have more points after subtracting 5.5, then they cover the spread. In order to cover the spread, the favored team not only needs to win the game – they must do so by a specified number of points.
The Stanford Cardinals have a positive number next to their team name, indicating they are the underdog. They do not have to win the game outright for you to win your bet. So long as they don’t lose by more than five points, you’ll come out a winner. Obviously, you would also win your bet if the Stanford Cardinals won the game outright.

Betting the NCAAF Moneyline

While less popular than betting the spread, the NCAAF moneyline is the easiest FOOTBALL bet to understand. When betting the moneyline, you are simply picking the team that will win the game. NCAAF Moneyline bets are easy to understand, but they offer a poor return on investment when betting on the favorite.
      Example: Stanford +180, Georgia -250
The NCAAF odds attached dictate your potential payout and the sportsbook’s implied probability. Georgia remains the favorite on the moneyline, as indicated by the negative number (-250) next to the team name. But, in this case, that number means something different: a -250 moneyline tells bettors that they need to wager $250 on Georgia in order to win $100. The positive number next to the Stanford Cardinals (+180) gives us similar information, with one key difference. It tells bettors how much they will win on a $100 bet, in this case $180.

Betting NCAAF Totals (Over/Under)

When betting the “total” on college FOOTBALL games, you are no longer concerned with which team will win the game. Instead, your focus is strictly on how many points will be scored overall. You may also hear this type of bet referred to as “over-under betting.”
Example: Stanford/Georgia Over 119.5(-115) Under 119.5 (-110) Sticking with our Stanford/Georgia example, the sportsbook has set the total at 119.5 points. Again, the half-point (hook) is present to prevent a push. You have two options when betting totals: over (more than 119.5 points will be scored between both teams) or under (less than 119.5 points will be scored overall).
When betting on the “total,” The moneyline shown in parentheses next to your choice determines the payout. This is calculated just like the NCAAF Moneylines above. Your focus on a NCAAF Totals Wager is strictly on how many points will be scored overall by both college FOOTBALL teams combined.
