We are going with a rare total here as we always take a look at the underdog first but in this case, we cannot back Washington. The Nationals are coming off a 4-5 roadtrip and did hit some big numbers in those wins but this is not the spot to back them, even though they are back home yet are still eight games under .500 here. The big reason for not taking them and looking toward the over is Trevor Williams. He has put together some good starts this season but those have been overshadowed with some really bad ones and his home splits have not helped as he has a 5.89 ERA in nine home outings and facing an offense that can light up the scoreboard. Detroit is coming off a 4-2 homestand and has won five of seven with the offense being kind of up and down but when it is up, it has been way up. We cannot lay this number with Jack Flaherty who has been up and down this season with a 4.80 ERA through his 16 starts. He is coming off a bounce back outing after two awful performances but he is back on the road where it has been rough as he has a 6.17 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in seven starts.
